About Us
Our
Story
Lombard First United Methodist Church began over 100 years ago as a gathering space for families and those curious about what faith could be. The church has been a haven for those who have worked to make our community better. We have housed the food pantry (before it outgrew our space!), provided a clothes closet, and born witness to God's love for all persons, especially those often left out or hurt by religious institutions.

We are vocal in our support for all persons seeking welcome, from refugees and immigrants to those in the LGBTQIA+ community. We also welcome those who question faith and bring our whole selves to what it means to be a community together.
Come and check out this congregation that has been a light for many!

Our Welcoming Statement
The First United Methodist Church of Lombard follows Jesus Christ’s example of loving God and serving others. We believe all people are created in the image of God and affirm their inherent sacred worth and dignity. We welcome into full inclusion in the life and ministries of our church people of all ages, races, national origins, physical and/or mental abilities, socioeconomic conditions, sexual orientations, gender identities, faith backgrounds, family configurations, education backgrounds, and any other differences either real or perceived.

We especially proclaim this statement of welcome to all who have known the pain of exclusion or discrimination in a church. As a Reconciling Congregation, we believe that we are being reconciled to God and to one another.
Peace and stay well!
